Re: USB Ports/SYNC Update

1st - I don't think there is anything under those square blocks (pic). I believe those are for optional equipment and just plugs/covers when the optional switches are not installed (I might be wrong). I think the Sony media system does not have a hardwire plug option those hardwaire plugs are sooo 2...

Re: Glove Box attachment

Use a silicone rubber band if you can. The standard office-type rubber band will dry out not last especially in summer heat.

Re: HOW TO PREVENT WATER PUMP FAILURE

I dropped back in to this thread yesterday and saw some newer posts, most notably Enigma-2's. I decided to investigate/confirm further: 1. I re-traced my FordProtect link, which back in August 2017 was an HTTP-type (not HTTPS secure). However it is now an HTTPS and is linked directly from Ford.com. ...

Re: 2013 Taurus slowly losing coolant

What I read, the internal pump design kept the motor small enough to fit in most small engine bays so cars didn't need complete redesign to use it.

Re: Expected MPG? 2014 PI Sedan

I've a 2016 Limited 3.5L FlexFuel w/10k miles (recently purchased). I run 93 octane, recent oil change. I ran the OBD2 check and no codes, all looks normal. The on dash computer reads 20.7 (combined). I expect an increase once I can turn the A/C off in a few weeks (it is August in Florida now). I th...

Re: 2013+ Digital Speedometer update

FWIW, I have inquired here and elsewhere about hacks of late model Ford software systems. I find very little posted. I have to think some don't want to hack an "in warranty" car. Another solution would be a cell/pad screen pared with an OBD II scanner to drive the digital speed display.

Re: HOW TO PREVENT WATER PUMP FAILURE

Oh this could be a huge problem for FORD's reputation if it is indeed as large a plague as it seems. That basic chain driven cam engine using the water pump as a load bearing device is used in a bunch of designs. When folks start hearing that the WP wears out about 90k miles and potentially wrecks t...

Re: Future water pump failure

So I went to the Ford extended warranty site (no longer Ford-ESP now http://fordprotect.ford.com/) It looks like the "PowertrainCARE" program would be lowest cost (cough) that covers the cursed water pump. For my 2016, w/11k miles on it, coverage out to year 2024/125k miles (furthest they go) and es...

Re: HOW TO PREVENT WATER PUMP FAILURE

I've got a 2016 Limited 3.5L Flex-Fuel Taurus with 10k miles on it. So, the post above all makes good sense, frequent fluid changes with the correct stuff, don't laugh off a small coolant drips. I've also read about numerous complaints on this and other Ford forums on the water pump issue. I've prob...
