Re: PPV

Hello, 1st post, have owned a number of ppv's over the years, '99 crown vic, '91 caprice and a '10 Charger, which my grandson now drives. Am now interested in either the Explorer Utility or the Taurus. Interested in the Ecoboost although the 3.7 sounds like a great engine. Will be following posts t...

spraypaint/touchup factory wheels?

I bought a used set of wheels that are a bit scuffed up.
On the P71's it was super easy to get some flat black spraypaint but these seem like a black enamel.

Does anyone have tips or advice on how to touch up some missing paint that won't look out of place?

Re: 2018 Ford Taurus SE

When I bought my 2016 Ford Taurus SE it had been sitting on a lot close to a year. Had some significant repairs shortly after delivery. No idea whether that is typical. 9 out of 10 ten times when I request the best out the door price I never hear back from the internet sales team. Very weird. No mo...

Re: 2018 Ford Taurus SE

I wonder if they'll have any damage (ex brake scoring, flat tires) from sitting so long?

Re: PI Sedan/SUV keyless entry with remote start retrofit

I was able to add remote start and entry which is great. Previous owners of the PI didn't use it, so the key holes are scratched pretty well. According to what I found, my 2014 was built some time in 2013, so I used those settings for early 2014. Everything works but the trunk button. Do I need to ...

How sensitive is the AWD system?

I bought some used tires, fronts are at 6.5MM rears are at 6mm 15/64 vs 17/64.

Though the last owner may have left the pressure weird as the edges seem to be slightly different.

Is this enough of a difference to damage the PTU?

Re: Is a 3.5 a Better Engine than a 3.7?

I've had several retired squad cars over the years and they all worked out well. I started looking for a late-model Taurus PI on the municipal auction circuit and when I found out about the water pump issue on the 3.7's I decided to look at other cars. Lately, I've seen some Taurus PI's with 3.5 en...

Re: What type of anti-freeze?

The water pump is a crazy expensive cost to replace. If in doubt just spend a bit more $ now and get the right fluid from the dealer so you don’t have to worry about it. We haven’t been able to determine the best practices to help prevent or delay the water pump failure. Change your coolant at prop...

OK, here's the solution, at least for 2016.

Changing 726-12-01 from 0000 000F to 0101 000C enabled auto lamp on my 2016 sedan.

Amber LED bulbs in the red lens?
I might be wrong but a, it'll look weird (orange + red) lens, and B isn't it the brake light as well?

possible to add orange turn signal?

I noticed some newer SHO's have orange turn signals on the rear, I hate flashing red turn signals.

Would it require an LED swap or the entire tail light?

The safest flush is to change the fluid and then change it again shortly thereafter. Personally I wouldn’t risk things by using additives like those you mentioned.

I thought all PI’s had a drain plug??
I was told cat removal was required??

Hmmm...

I have also found this...

AdvanceTrac Control & AutoLamp Delay-13-18 IPC 720-01-03 XXXX-XX*X-ZZ 0 = Disabled, 8= AdvanceTrac, 1 = AutoLamp, 9 = AdvanceTrac w/ AutoLamp

Thinking this adds them to the settings menu...
I'm confused did anyone get the sensor to work?

i think this was early 2013 only to be honest. the behind the police tray in the middle windshield (klrsmith method) is by far the easiest and cheapest way to run the antenna.
Yeah it worked decently well, I bought a 2015 radio AND THAT didn't work :/

It had damage to the front right fender. Only cosmetic. I’m guessing that department just sells any cars that get damaged while in service... I got a new oem fender and had my guy blend it real nice 😁
Worth it to swap the wheel man, it's the one thing you touch every second while using the car!

Something interesting I noticed today

Saw a bunch of sedans and utility's today.

All had roughly the same hours but were from different departments (some highway, some local, different forces)

Some had low coolant AND oil leaks around the crank position sensor

My best guess is the gasket supplier had crappy batches?
