Re: 2018 Ford Taurus SE

True! :)

My 2010 Avalon however did have a water pump failure and it cooked the head gasket (due to malpractice by AAA approved repair shop).

Will check 2018 Taurus prices again in April. 150K miles / 8 year ESP is $3K. May just go with that and drive the 2016 Taurus SE until 2025.

Re: 2018 Ford Taurus SE

Rebates are back but only $6K: they were at $7K around the Holidays.

Avalon’s have become insanely expensive BTW.

There are some real attractively priced LaCrosse’s on the market locally.

Re: 2011 Limited seats in 2016 SE

Turns out that it is pretty complicated to find a complete set of seats. Plus most junk yards do not like trade-ins (of the cloth seats) and/or do not install seats.

Katzkin and other aftermarket leather is insanely expensive: $1800.

Re: 2018 Ford Taurus SE

Yep. Will try that. But will need to wait for a few weeks now. All the rebates lapsed yesterday and the only rebates available now are really poor. Experienced more of the same today with no responses and very high asking prices (inflated dealer fees). A few weeks after I took delivery of my 2016 Fo...

Re: 2018 Ford Taurus SE

When I bought my 2016 Ford Taurus SE it had been sitting on a lot close to a year. Had some significant repairs shortly after delivery. No idea whether that is typical. 9 out of 10 ten times when I request the best out the door price I never hear back from the internet sales team. Very weird. No mot...

2018 Ford Taurus SE

Although there are more than 1100 2018 Ford Taurus SE's available nationwide with many >= 250 days on dealer lots they do not appear very motivated to sell. No surprise of course. Unless you are willing to come in and spend hours and hours haggling they are not interested.

Re: Ford Taurus reliability (please sign up)

Update: 20 days later the car appears to be fine so far. Need to buy the ESP early next year. Getting up in miles. Close to 20K.

Re: Ford Taurus reliability (please sign up)

Update: my 2016 Ford Taurus SE FWD now was almost 18K miles. Got a new battery yesterday. It died on me. Covered by Ford warranty fortunately. Need to look into the ESP plan before I reach 36K miles.

Re: 2016 Ford Taurus SE FWD - driver side rear view mirror replacement

I have the base 2016 Ford Taurus SE model. I can re-purpose some parts. It just got knocked lose when reversing at my new home. I have a downhill driveway now and knocked into the mailbox. :(

2016 Ford Taurus SE FWD - driver side rear view mirror replacement

Hi. What do I need to order to replace my driver side rear view mirror? Is this a DIY repair or something I need a shop for? Thank you!

Is it DG1Z-17683-A? I assume left is driver side, right?

Re: Ford Taurus reliability (please sign up)

My 2016 Ford Taurus SE was rear-ended in May. $10K damage. All has been repaired. Crossed 13K on the odometer yesterday. Our 2004 Ford Expedition XLT did not survive a relocation drive from Miami, FL to Raleigh, NC. It already had a main rear seal leak. The alternator died after a horrible rainstorm...

Re: Ford Taurus reliability (please sign up)

Turned out to be a bad oil filter. They cleaned it up. Replaced it. No damage to engine (hopefully). And no charge. What a show!

Re: Ford Taurus reliability (please sign up)

Back to a dealer! Leaking oil. Ruined my driveway. :( Quite the issue to get the dealer to work on it. Had to get the GM involved. SM accused me of abusing Lemon Law and suggested I take it somewhere else. Ford CS cannot do anything. Quite the disappointment.

Breached 3,400 miles this week. So far so good.
