Re: Has anyone removed the Taurus badge on the trunk?

I've never understood debadging. Happens a lot over in the Accord forum I moderate. To me, if you want to debadge, it means you're embarassed about the brand/model you've purchased. Might as well buy a Yugo....

Re: Oil change/Switch to Mobil 1 synthetic

My go-to oil is the factory Motorcraft Synthetic blend 5W20 at Wally Mart for $11.50 for 5 quarts. I've tried using M1 and other straight synthetics for years on various vehicles, and found that unless you're doing 7K+ OCI's, it's basically wasting money. The OEM oil is among the best for 5-6K OCI's...

Re: Looking to buy, wondering what to look for

I found an 08 on sale for ~$10,000, with 67k on the clock. The deal seems too good to be true (so my initial thought is that it is), but I don't want to get screwed over, and I'm wondering if there's anything I should ask the dealer or keep my eyes open for if I can make it out there to give it a d...

Re: Tires (05-07)

So I finally got serious about getting new tires and did it this past weekend. I went to Allied Tire and bought 4 Hankook Optimo H727s, which, out the door, cost me $610, including lifetime balance and rotation. They look good and seem to ride good, but I've only driven them about 8 miles so far. W...

Re: How well does a Focus hold up long-term?

Why dont you get a Five Hundred? Too large. Last year he drove my Montego around and used it for commuting to his job for a few weeks. MPG's were OK, but he had trouble parking it in Boston given some of the places he wanted to go. He's looking for something smaller. I did think of this, as there's...

How well does a Focus hold up long-term?

Looking for a small but reliable car for the middle son as he starts to do his college co-ops. Something with good gas mileage and reliable enough for him to use after he graduates in a couple of years. I've found a few 2007 Ford Focus' around the area for a decent price, with low miles (under 30k) ...

Re: First time poster...question about OEM Pirelli's.

The OEM Pirelli's are marginal at best - but with 22k miles on the odometer, the tires are pretty worthless in the winter - and I'm also guessing you have FWD only, which makes them worse. With my Montego with AWD, even when new the Pirelli's were just "OK" in the snow - and for the second winter I ...

Re: TSB for TC light - defective rear diff pressure switch

I've recently come across this issue with my 06 freestyle. I have purchased the sensor and plan to replace it myself. The part I dont understand is the statement in the TSB NOTE: INSTALL THE OIL PRESSURE / TEMPERATURE SENSOR WASHER WITH THE CONCAVE (DISHED) SIDE FACING THE DEM. Does this mean the c...

Re: Hello all

Welcome to the forum! At 54k, I'd plan for a CVT fluid change with the external filter between now and 60k. Otherwise, if normal maintenance was done, there shouldn't be anything significant.

Re: Floor heat

You will not believe what the problem was. Mom complained that her feet were too cold in the summer when the air conditioning was on. Dear old dad went ahead and stuffed a few old socks in the heater vent so it did not blow on the floor. Apparently he forgot he had done that and now in the winter t...

Re: Floor heat

My parents have a 2008 Taurus. My mother is complaining that there is no heat to the floor on her side of the car. Is there any known issues with this? Are there adjustments that I can make or is it a dealer only type problem. I would like to see a manual so I can diagnose it myself, are there any ...

Re: Headrests

I think the headrest angle design comes from the Volvo relationship Ford has. I remember explicity sitting in a late 90's Volvo had headrests that were angled in an identical fashion to the ones in the Taurus and Flex - and the wife couldn't sit in the car at all because of the angle and height of t...

Re: Mods to '08 & '09 Taurus/Sable

I'm looking for the rear lip spoiler that dosen't need a light.. I saw one on a taurus and it looked real hott but I couldn't catch up to them to find out where they got it. go to www.sportwing.com and check out their taurus/sable/500/montego rear spoilers - they carry both a wing and lip spoiler -...

Re: Hood Latch

Very interesting thread, because driving back from Boston last week my hood mysteriously poped up to the safety position for the first time ever (07 Montego). I pulled off the next exit and checked the latch - everything was fine - I opened the hood and slammed it closed and it was fine for the rest...

Re: Wonder what happened to Angel?

I thought about Angel the other day - I saw a two-toned blue Smart Car coming down the roads here in town with a Thule ski box on top that I swear was longer and wider than the car itself was. Definitely a site! During the spring a census employee came by our house in a Smart Car - cool lookin...

Re: AutoAnything.com????

After the wife rejected the first winter with the WeatherTech floor liners, I got her a set of Lloyd Ultimats for her Freestyle - just a tad larger in the front than the OEM mats - but much better quality, and they stay in place much better. Holding up well this winter - she's very happy. Autoanyth...

Picked up 2010 Taurus Limited on 12 28 09 on four occasions turning ingnition key produced no starter cranking. Gauges and lights come on but nothing happens with starter. Try again a couple hours later and it fires off just fine. On one moring had to try 3 times 15 minutes apart to finally start. ...

Re: Sable 2008 HID lights

After having owned vehicles with and without stability control - on a low-center-of-gravity car, it's not nearly as necessary as it is with a taller vehicle. And I've also found that you must switch stability control off if you're in a situation of having the vehicle getting stuck, because the car g...

Re: A/C controls

There is no correlation between the temperature switch and the A/C compressor during the colder months. The temp switch controls the flap position to introduce warmer air into the cabin. The A/C compressor cycles off and on if the car thinks it needs dehumidification - signified if the system thinks...
