Re: AutoAnything.com????

I ordered a Husky liner for my folks' SUV from autoanything.com. Lowest price, quick shipping, but now I'm bombarded with emails from them. I could probably find a way to unsubscribe... Just look at it this way - if you ever DO want to order again, you'll always have a 20 percent off and free shipp...

Re: ctv transmission

This is a bit ironic, but mine started the infamous "tick" today at 56k. So far its only done it twice (both times after getting off the exit ramp and stopping at the stoplight and then it goes away a few miles later. But I plan to dump this car immediately. I live in the Detroit area and have alwa...

Re: Some hits and misses

The whole car, front and rear, is just too confining to suit me. Sorry, but this is amazing given the roominess of the recent ancestors of this car (like my '09 Taurus). Agreed - that was my first observation. It looks decently sized from the outside, but extremely cramped on the inside. I understa...

Re: Tires (05-07)

I've run into the same observation - and the issue is that it's a 55 series 18" tire - and that automatically starts putting you into the high-price performacne range for tires. Something you might want to consider is putting some 225-60R18's on it instead. That's what comes on the Freestyle, and th...

Re: AutoAnything.com????

After the wife rejected the first winter with the WeatherTech floor liners, I got her a set of Lloyd Ultimats for her Freestyle - just a tad larger in the front than the OEM mats - but much better quality, and they stay in place much better. Holding up well this winter - she's very happy. Autoanythi...

Re: Some hits and misses

Thought I'd post within this thread instead of starting a new one. Was in having the Freestyle serviced today and sat for the first time in a 2010 Taurus - AWD LImited model. Very nice, and much different than the FS/Montego pair that we own. Overall, I thought it was a great vehicle in terms of the...

Re: What struts for 2005 Five Hundred

Years ago I nicked the CV boot on the old Saab we had for the kids to use. The car was on its last legs, so I didn't want to undertake the task of replacing the boot. I happened to have some gray silicone gasket sealer in the tool box, and figured it wouldn't be any worse than doing nothing at all. ...

Re: Mods to '08 & '09 Taurus/Sable

Rear Lip Spoiler - I've been toying with getting this for the Montego. Add a little subtle sport to the relatively sedate sedan.... To go with a pebble grain vinyl roof? :D Not quite - the last vinyl roof I had was on my 79 Olds Cutlass - had that 1/2 vinyl roof, and looked pretty decent on that ca...

Re: '09 Taurus/Sable goes here too. And doncha ferget it!

This is the exact color and style of the Galaxie 500 that the family had - I like the looks of this year, personally. But the car really stuck in my head as providing a lot of good memories. I was born in 57, and we got it in 66, so I was 9 or so - was the car we had as we moved from Ohio to NH.... ...

Re: '09 Taurus/Sable goes here too. And doncha ferget it!

I think you should put a badge and call it a Galaxy 500. When I was a kid my dad/mom had a 64 Galaxy 500 - was perhaps the best Ford I can remember that he had over the years. And it's one of those names I don't think I've heard used by Ford in a long time. If you're gonna change a name, might as we...

Re: whats with the mpg's?

I regularly get 22 in the city and 27 on the hwy in my 2005 limited w/ awd. On a trip to Colorado, cruise set at 80, I'll get about 26.5 This almost exactly matches my averages in the 07 Montego AWD - same conditions, etc. Interestingly enough, the freestyle gets similar city mileage, but 2-3 mpg l...

Re: AWD rear springs on a FWD Taurus??

I'll start by saying that my comment here is based on knowledge of the Freestyle/Montego/500 - so I won't claim that this is correct for the Taurus/TX/Sable.... But the big difference between the AWD and FWD rear suspension is the shocks. The AWD has the Nivomat self-leveling shocks (of Volvo herita...

Re: Oil and Oil filter preference

Motorcraft syn blend 5W20 is very highly rated in oil tests at bobistheoilguy.com - and for just over 11 bucks for a 5 quart jug is a bargain. I use it on both Fords and my Honda and it does great. I, like you, get the FLM filter and Motorcraft syn blend from Wally Mart.

07 Montego - built may 2006, delivered to dealer same month - sold to me brand new with 140 miles on the odometer in Feb 2008 - 21 months on the lot. Knocked 10 grand off the sticker - car's been great. :D

Re: wiper blades

I've tried a few of the aftermarket brands, but have never been satisfied with their application on the Freestyle/500/Montego. Even with the same design style as OEM (and the proper connector), they still don't wipe the viewing area as consistently as the OEM ones do. Yea, they OEM's are a few extra...

Unfortunately it says

which is the 3/36 one. But I agree that you should just ask and find out. Can't be that hard to install with only a .3 hour labor rate....
