Re: 08 Sable transmission screwed up

The one "elephant in the room" you have going against you is that, despite the remainder of the warranty, you're the second owner. If you have a Ford ESP, then you're usually OK. if not, they usually look to help the new car owner the most. That said, three of the times I got help like this was on ...

Re: A/C controls

Why would I not press Auto? There are two ways to get the system to switch positions. One is to hit one of the "auto" modes - hitting either Auto or the front window defrost button gives the system the "go-ahead" to manipulate fan speed, airflow direction, and amount of immediate heat on it's own. ...

Re: Five Hundred ticking dead...

The NAPA batter in my son's accord was like 2 years old and was working great - but both terminals had the acid powder built up on them. I removed the battery cables and used some baking soda to clean the terminals off - rinsed well - put a couple of the acid-resistent felt pads and then the cables ...

Re: Five Hundred ticking dead...

Walked out to the car and put in key and it's not turning over. Now, there's this constant ticking near fuse box underneath steering column that has some of the dash lights blinking with it and the parking lights. When I last had it in a shop, they told me the positive terminal of the battery is re...

Re: Warranty fixes on 2008 T/X

I agree Andy, the express open and close is great but it seems the tilt will express open but not closed. The manual says it express' on the regular open and close but not on the tilt. Something doesn't jibe, thus the inquiry. Anybody else notice that or is something amiss with the switch? I'm tryi...

Re: Warranty fixes on 2008 T/X

With the weather turning colder here in Wisconsin seems a small tranny fluid leak started on my wifes T/X. Sure enough , it was the seal on the right PTU output shaft. Car has 30000 miles on it so warranty fixed it but hasn't this been a problem in the past on the FS's also? If your passenger side ...

Re: A/C controls

Sounds like something is wrong. On both the montego and FS, it always has the position that it had when the car was turned off - it never resets. Almost sounds like it's losing a "memory" of sorts when the car shuts down.... Do your radio presets stay in place after your restart the car?

Re: Rim cleaning

If you're really serious about this, I'd take the wheels off one at a time and put them on something at work-level (and laid horizontal) to spray the soap-mix on, let it sit, and then be able to either brush or clay the surfaces. I'tll be easier on the back and you'll get the nooks and crannies clea...

Re: Cleaning the chrome/plastic wheels

Actually, when I first "carefully" started washing cars back in the late 70's (when I got my first new car, a 79 Olds Cutlass supreme, jet black with powder blue interior), I had decent luck using Ivory dishwashing soap. Back then, it had virtually no grease cutting capability, and was pretty gentle...

head over to the ford freestyle sister site to this forum - www.myfordfreestyle.com - there are several owners that have opted for this tire and you can get some review info over there. The 225-60-18 is the stock size for the freestyle.

Re: Stereo cuts out with turns in 2007 LTD

Two thoughts: - when this happens, try mucking with the steering wheel volume knobs to see if it has any effect. Might be a loose wire/connection within that loom into the steering column - can you reproduce the problem by giving a good wrap on the center console near the radio? I know that when I w...

Re: TSB for TC light - defective rear diff pressure switch

Went to the dealer today for replacement of the control module. Good news is that it fixed the problem!! Bad news is what the part would have cost me if it was out of warranty. From what I've been able to find on the net, part 7F9Z-4C016 has a list price of about $950 - ouch! It's referred to as a "...

Re: stereo install(updated 10/26/09)

Cool - very clean. So what about heat buildup with the floor in place - do the amps have fans? or do you run without the floor unless you need it? Just curious - I know these can build up a lot of heat sometimes. But I do like the install - looks great!

Re: 'C' shaped chrome pc. is sharp!

It's pretty clear in the 2 photos in your picture stream that the circled edge of the chrome trim needs to be gently bent inward to keep from impaling fingers, etc. I'd take something like a wooden chopstick or other thin wood and push on the edge to make it bend inside the rest of the trim. Maybe a...

Looks good - but serious question - do you ever put anything in your trunk? LIke do you have a shelf or something to protect your gear when you need to go to the grocery store or something?

Well, I'm not necessarily thinking of using the same colorful wording as PMCErnie did - but you've gotta be pretty bold to announce on an internet forum you watch movies while you drive - even ones you've already seen. As another poster has said, even a short glance to watch something like that is e...

Re: 'C' shaped chrome pc. is sharp!

Wow - that must be the "Ultra Chrome" edition!!! Frankly I've never seen that level of chrome on a 500/Montego before - certainly not a factory trim piece. Could just be the way the piece is cut. Sort of like when they do stuff on American Chopper and don't care if something comes to a point - just ...

John C was the reason i am a modd Andy, at that time this sites filtering software was not up to snuff, lots of porn spam floating around. Well, so be it...here we have 162,000 miles on the Five Hundred...which soon will most certainly become a Subaru For...

Re: Fog Light Issue

Some guys never heard of running with the parking lamps on. In NH, I believe it's not legal to drive with only the parking lights on. And on 2-lane roads marked as such, they require full headlight use whether day or night. Local laws can be interesting, to say the least. i still believe that leavi...
