A/C Troubleshooting

Post by mlochala » Fri Aug 02, 2019 3:14 pm

I recently purchased a 2006 Taurus SEL that is in decent condition. It has a brand new a/c compressor installed, but the a/c still does not work. The compressor does not cycle or come on. I have not found any blown fuses, as of yet. And, the gentleman from whom I bought the car from believes the evaporator temperature sensor needs to be replaced.

I thought I might ask some of you more experienced Taurus owners/mechanics before getting too deep into this what could the possibilities be. As far as I can tell, the switch on the a/c control unit itself seems to be working.

Taking the previous owner's advice, I have looked into replacing this temperature sensor, but I am not finding very much information about it. Does this sound feasible, and is there a work around so that I do not have to remove the entire dash?

I would appreciate your help and advice very much. Thanks in advance.
