Oil Pressure Low

I'm new here. Just bought a 2004 Ford Taurus SE Sedan for my first car. Went to start it up today and was greeted with a message that read oil pressure low. Any common causes of this or ideas of what it may be?

Welcome, did you check the oil?

Yes. It's at the right level. Car runs perfectly fine but the warning concerns me

Next up is to locate and inspect the oil pressure sender and associated wiring. Inspect for breaks, chafing, corrosion, etc. Repair as required.

Then, get a mechanical oil pressure gauge and connect it, see if you actually have oil pressure. If you do, check your sending unit (replace?). If you don't have pressure you're in for a potentially big repair bill.

Will do. I ran a syscheck and as it went through the list it said "oil pressure ok". So do you think it could just be a faulty sensor?

I wouldn't condemn the sensor right away, it could be a wiring or connector issue. If you have a scan tool, check the sensor reading that way too. But it could be a faulty sensor.
