Anyone having paint chipping issues? I have a 2018 black SHO and getting dozens of chips on the hood, large chips on the doors, no dents and barely any paint in the door openings where you can see the primer. Had a 2015 tuxedo black one that didnt have these issues. Started noticing the paint issues after 4 months and the chips feel like there is light paint or clearcoat.

This is on the door. Normally getting a chip this large (3-4mm) it would have a dent to go with it.

new to group
but I have a 2017 Black Taurus Limited
and I sent it back to the dealer yesterday to look at all paint chips before 36K miles, the
front end, hood, roof, doors, all have maybe 50 chips where the paint is missing
no damage, just no paint, not sure if that is primer or metal I see, it is not rusting
so maybe aluminum, I hope they will repair or paint the vehicle

It's primer. There isn't any aluminum panels on the Taurus. When I took it to the dealer, I was shot down within 2 hours of review saying it was normal wear and tear and that was last August. I'm still fighting it to this day but where it is left is that they are willing to paint half of the car. Only the affected panels but I'm still fighting it with more issues arising. Easy 50 on the hood alone and a lot of micro chips. Took it to my local collision shop and they measured the paint with a mil gauge and the readings were in the mid 3's. He said standard should be at least 5. Let me know how it turned out for you, I have a number for you if your claim gets rejected.
