Ambient Lighting

Post by Ford Prefect » Wed Apr 30, 2014 3:54 pm

OK so I have one issue that has arisen. No matter what color I set the ambient lighting to. The next time I switch the lights on it defaults back to white. Does this happen to anyone else?

The Ambient Lighting occasionally has a mind of its own and I don't understand it either. I know it is a inconvenience but a dealer visit will probably be pointless until the IVT programmers can find a fix. I don't like it but there is no point in tying up dealer resources and chasing a "Ghost" (Not you Ghost Rider, the pre-verbal ghost)

I enjoy and agree with most of your posts..but not this time.

He should ABSOLUTELY TIE UP DEALER RESOURCES (and if that dealership sold the car to him it's a no-brainer).

Dealerships have MUCH MORE pull with Ford than we do...plus THE DEALER is a representative of the brand (AND US).
------------

Since this obviously is a problem for more than one consumer I'd suggest contacting a regional Ford representative. They typically handle this kind of negative publicity (and that's what this thread is..) in a fairly fast and professional manner.

Eventually the dealer will refuse to service your car and can make a note in OASIS then the next dealer will kick you out too once they run OASIS. I have had that happen to me with another Ford car. The dealer wanted nothing to do with it when they ran OASIS.

I see your side, but I just hate leaving vehicles without a known fix. You are correct in it needs to be fixed but where do we go? Other than IVT Kim which by the way whether she knows it or not I am giving her credit with the assist on the A5 NAV card release. If the other programmers in IVT can get the fix and release the update software than I have no problem bringing it in or if IVT can release a software update online I have plenty of spare USB's.

Kim you follow us pretty regularly any ideas from your end? Maybe a WISH LIST for the next MFT update?

Hi Ford Perfect,

Have you brought this up to your dealer’s attention? If not, you should speak to the service manager at your Ford Dealer. He is in the best position to ensure a proper diagnosis, and will be able to provide available options and/or coverage for any work needed.

Hey GhostRider,

It’s been a few months since we last addressed this. Have you brought it back up to your dealer?

I moved, got a new job and got busy. Also, the warranty is up so I am not going to pay a dealer to find what they think is a non-existent problem. If they cant duplicate it, they wont pursue it. I have had that told to me on other vehicles.

Hey Ford Prefect and GhostRider,

After updating the MyFord Touch software to V3.6.2, some owners have reported their ambient lighting switching back to the original color instead of the one that was selected by them. Unfortunately, there are no troubleshooting steps I can recommend to resolve this concern from home. Our engineers are aware of this issue and they are working on a resolution. I suggest checking your SYNC account regularly for software updates at: http://www.Support.Ford.com

Hi The Bone,

It sounds like yours is working as intended. Do you have V3.6.2 installed on your MyFord Touch system?

Thanks for bringing this thread to my attention, 2011TAURUSSEL. I can’t speculate on what will be included on futures software updates, but I can assure you that I’ve documented feedback about the ambient lighting issue from this forum. When a software update is released, an announcement will be made here: http://boards.synccommunity.com/discuss ... redirCnt=1&= Like I mentioned earlier, you can also check for updates by logging into your account at: http://www.Support.Ford.com

Mine does this randomly, drives me crazy. Been to dealer and they claim to have looked into the VIP program but it still changes from my preset color to the default at times. Seems to be related to auto starting in some degree. Just trying to make sense out of it.

Don't understand why FORD can't get a clue and fix this issue.

I too have the same issue. I leave ambient lighting OFF and it still turns ON by itself sometimes.

My 2014 SHO ambient lighting issues were corrected with the update that became available at the end of July 3.7 I believe I installed 3.8 last week and no problems.

Correct installing the latest version of MFT sync incorporates the Ambient light fix and doesn't require the TSB to be done.
