Seems like it will stall in first 5 seconds, then fine

I have a 05 500 that is just over 106k miles. Havn't needed any repairs on it yet and I do my own oil changes and filters.

When I normaly start it, it turns over quickly but seems like it wanted to stall in the first 5 seconds. It has not yet but I know it is a matter of tiime. After that 5 seconds though the engine kicks back up and idles normally. I never have any power or acceleration issues on the highway (I have a 40 minute commute to work that is mostly at 70-75mph).

Also for a while now it has hated being started and then turned off before it has had a chance to run like 60 seconds. I will come back to the car and find it in flooded conditions and need to keep cranking it until it finally starts.

Yesterday I replaced the air filter and fuel filter but it didn't seem to change anything. Any ideas?

I added a bottle of HEET to the gas for the same reason. Seems to have done the trick. I also replaced the fuel filter. I prime the car for 3 seconds with the key at ON before turning to RUN. No more stumble ever since.

Have you ever had the throttle body cleaned? Mine was acting similar to yours and I took off the throttle body and sprayed it with cleaner.

I also did removed the mass airflow sensor and sprayed cleaner on it.

My 500 used to do that till I started cleaning the throttle frequently. Your issue might have been the tune up or as Dwcopple mentioned changing the fuel filter and adding injector cleaner helps! I keep getting cylinder #4 missfire code. I swapped the coils and changed the plugs but same thing comes back on unless I add injector cleaner once in a while.

It is quite worthless in most of the country, as all it is is a bottle of alcohol. Guess what, modern gas has upward of 10% alcohol out of the pump so you are wasting your time with HEET.

Do yourself a favor, get a 8mm socket and 4 inch extension and pull off the throttle body. Clean it with a soft toothbrush and some proper cleaner. I use 3M Throttle Plate and Carb Cleaner 08866.

Spray and soak, scrub with brush, spray and soak.

Rinse and repeat until every spec of carbon is gone. Reattach and take it for a drive.

This is the best way to do. I do this every 20K miles and I got 270K clean miles. Altough my cylinder #4 still indicates missfire once in a while. I will put new injectors in summer unless I sell it. Hopefully our new home will have enough parking space.
