I doubt it but could always get a civi model and see what calibration upgrades are available for it. It would definately have to be a Taurus with the same instrument cluster as the police model (ie message center in the middle) versus the "upper" models that have the analog speedo in the middle with information centers on both sides.

This upgrade takes dealer tools to do.

You have an early model one then. There are many upgrades available including the ICM, PCM, ACM, FDICM, etc. Depends on all the options your car has.

If you want daytime running lights (either low beams or the turn signals) that would be a good time to hit them up on that too.

How much are they going to charge? You should tell them to upgrade all the modules in the car. That will take about two hours to do all of them.

Should add if your using the car for civi use might also be a good time to disable the dark car feature if you have that. IE dome lights not coming on when you open the door along with the radio display being disable in certain circumstances.

Hate DRL's. I made the dealer disable them on my Limited. There was no rhyme or reason for them. I keep the lights on automatic and adjust as necessary manually if needed.

Yes, I took it into the dealer and it was the only update I needed. They charged me $90.00 for the upgrade which took about an hour. I haven't checked everything completely, but seems that it added some additional items in the information section. I don't remember seeing engine hours and idle hours prior to the upgrade, but it's there now. Of course I've only had the car a week, but I really like the digital speedo option. Before I had to settle for watching the gas mileage. I personally think the upgrade was worth the price. It is an early production model with a build date of 19 January 12, and it was a factory demo unit, so it has some cool equipment on it like the re-mappable audio with voice sync, voice activation, blind spot monitoring, My-Sync, reverse sensing system, rear view camera, dark car feature, Jotto Desk console, LED spot lamp and some other niceties which I have disabled. Presently 5600 miles on the car ☻

$90 for an hour....lol. Love stealerships.

The upgrade to the IC (instrument cluster) takes no more than 15 minutes and that's with the time pull out the laptop and VCM2. With a build date of Jan '12 you do have a factory demo. They didn't go into production until Mar '12 that I know of (maybe someone can correct me??) There are other updates available....trust me. Your performance would probably improve with updating the PCM to the latest calibration.

The car looks "tough" with the turn signals on as DRL, lol. Personal preference all the way.

The invoice stated they reprogrammed the IPC module for digital speedometer operation. Sure wish I knew someone at a Ford dealership!!

Like your Interceptor!

The engine idle hours are there straight from the factory, not because of this update. They started doing that with the 2006 CVPI's for maintenance reasons. Remember 1 idle hour = 33 miles. I dont know any fleet manager that uses the idle hours for maintenance reasons, but rather just the mileage on the odometer. For as strict as I am on maintenance, I never use the hours. Useless IMO.

Not to go too off-topic here but I had the dealer reprogram the PCM to account for a new tire size on my Ranger. This was back in '08, it was $55 for about 10 minutes' work. It took longer for the service advisor to fix the printer and make me pay. The current going rate last time I checked was $119/hr, it could be higher now as they're building a new bigger building right now.

Going rate around here is $70-$90/HR.

I am surprised you paid at all. Around here, they would just "warranty" that kind of job or charge you for half an hour.

Going to take the interceptor in for an oil and filter change. Just turned 6000 miles. I also want to get any software upgrades done at the same time. Besides the DRL's, it's my understanding they can program the locks to auto lock and auto unlock, and upgrade the PCM software to the latest calibration. Any other tricks they can do that I should know about??

I purchased and SEL back in June and can't believe this is still an issue on the new 2015 and 2016 models. I have what I call the low-end dashboard...tach on left, small display in middle, speed on right. I'm only 6' which I consider average yet I cannot see the speedometer because the steering wheel blocks the view, how can Ford not come across this during QA testing?

Yes I can raise the wheel but not only is this uncomfortable but dangerous because of how it's positioned for me. PLUS the speedometer is naturally hard to read, it's small so I find myself staring to read it as to a quick glance. So a couple things shock me, Ford still places the smaller speedometer in their cars and the digital display does not provide a speed readout. And who care about a tach, very few people use it unless driving a manual transmission, if anything put small LED tach on the dash, something like lights on an stereo equalizer that goes from green to yellow to red.

I'd like to see a digital readout of the speed on the center display along w/engine temp, and oil pressure, as those last two are critial in my book. A nice extra would be instant gas milage as I'm not one of those guys racing to next red light so I actually monitor this. HEY FORD are you listening... what about a heads up display? I just gave my 2004 Pontiac to my kids and serious I would almost rather give the Ford to them. The 2004 had heads up display was AWESOME. You can move it up/down if your tall or short, dim or bright, and turn things on or off like compass, radio station, etc. Plus I now see manf. like Audi bragging that they have heads up display. Come-on FORD, get with it.

I took my 2015 into the shop and showed them the P-011 printout and he was willing to try it but said he had no clue if it will work on a 2015 or it could even cause issues so we didn't do it. Call customer care but they couldn't help, said the dealership would have to call into one of their contact lines such as to engineering support to see if this module will work or if there's a newer one out there.

I just upgraded my IPC module and everything else that had an updated calibration file available. Definitely love that digital speedo...definitely worth the upgrade. Anyone else in the DC DMV area need this?

Is it possible to do this upgrade without taking it into a dealership?
