Dropped it off for the water pump...

Post by GonzoWerke » Tue Dec 11, 2018 10:52 am

...when I arrived for my appointment, they could not find it. Turns out, guy on the phone thought I was with the VSP, and put my reservation under Virginia. When they realized I wasn't, they had to re-do my paperwork and quote. The price magically dropped from $1600 to $1400. Methinks the stealership is gouging the State.
I'm fine with that, after the thousands the state has taken from me.

Where did you go to get the water pump done at that price? I have gotten quotes in the $2k range.

Do you know what the part number the water pump is? Supposedly they were redesigning the water pump.

Purvis Ford in Fredericksburg, Va. Don't know the number, but I was told that the latest and greatest is the only one available to them through Ford Parts. Take that with a grain of salt...

When I do the chains, I am yanking the engine out the top. Only 9 bolts at the trans...

The dealer lowered the entire cradle out the bottom and lifted the car, then did the waterpump on the floor.

Engine didn't "need" to come out. They didn't put in a $40 chain and $10 guides when they were already there?

You mean $500 dollar chain and guides. That's what they wanted extra to do it.

Nope. $44 chain.
And didn’t need to change guides or tensioner, looked new, but I did because I wasn’t sending them back. Less than $100 for chain, 4 guides and a tensioner.
Autopartsnation (Tousley ford) or tasca ford.
