How do you reset pursuit mode?

Post by Celticwolf » Wed Mar 06, 2019 7:25 am

So our cars learn our driving habits and self adjust when they enter pursuit mode. I thrash my car pretty good, so now it just doesn't do it. When the car was new, it kicked in alot. Now it just knows I drive like that and ignores me.

Frankly, I miss it. Short of locking up the brakes, it doesn't trigger anymore.

Remove the negative battery cable for a few minutes. That will reset the ecu.

Then I can't help. Everything I read says that this is how you do it. My PI, you have to brake real hard, then it downshifts and chirps the tires, and I'm in pursuit mode.

When they are new, they go into pursuit mode at the least bit of provocation. Didn't even have to go wot, about 3/4 throttle, or Brake moderately hard, take a curve aggressively, bam you are in pursuit mode.

"Pursuit mode"? Is this something they didn't have in 2013? Never heard of it.

Mine still goes into pursuit mode just fine. Just slam the brake and then punch the gas always does the trick.

When they are new, they are much more sensitive.

I see this same complaint with the Explorer/ PI utility forum. For what it’s worth this is the reply:
The criteria to enter pursuit mode has been significantly reduced basically making it useless IMO on the updated pcm calibrations due to complaints ford was getting from drivers complaining about their vehicles not driving correctly after inadvertently entering pursuit mode when not intended. Unfortunately, the ONLY way to get your old pursuit mode back to how it was or should be if you ask me is to reprogram the ecu with the original calibration or get a custom tune to re-enable it correctly.

So if I have it reset, can it be locked in the original setting?
