Are stiff door hinges normal?

The rear doors aren't hard to close but they're much more stiff than any other car, I can't "slam" it shut since they'll just stop 3/4 of the way closed.

Is this by design? If not, do I have to put some special grease on the hinges?

My boyfriend's '13 also has stiff hinges, if that helps at all.

I have a '14 and had the same problem. I used liberal amounts of WD40 to get them to operate easy. I sprayed the hinges and worked the door open and closed (without closing it all the way) many times. They work as easy as the front ones do. They get stiff from lack of use.

I hit all me hinges with white lithium grease and worked them for a bit. Also trunk a hood hinges. All smooth as silk now.

How'd you get it into the actual pivot? I used a qtip and just rubbed around (and opened and closed the doors ~20 times) but not a huge difference

A Q-tip? Get a can of WD40 with a straw and spray the hinge pins. Look where the two parts of the hinge meet, the hinge pin is the rod that goes through them. Spray copious amounts of lube on everything that moves. Spray, work the door, spray, work the door........
