Police Wiring

Hey, new to the forum and need some help.

I just bought a 2013 Police Interceptor Sedan with the 3.7. I am trying to wire up the steering wheel upfitter switches (aux1-4) to control lighting in the vehicle. I am a local firefighter and want my blue lights to be controlled by the steering wheel switches.

So I read the modifiers guide, found out the switches are ground side switches. I wired the ground from my light, to the steering wheel wire (also ground) and spliced in to a power source.

With the engine off, it works!!
If the car is running, the light blinks and turns right off.

This happens on multiple power sources so I believe it's something to do with the steering wheel circuit.

Anyone have any experience with the switches?

Page 8 of the manual shows a grille lamp output on the 14 pin connector under the center dash. Maybe try that as your power source?

I figured it out.

The steering wheel switches are ground side switches. They need to be run through a relay to reverse polarity.

For anyone looking to wire the steering wheel switches, get an automotive relay and wire it as follows:

86 is your steering wheel aux switch wire.
87 is 12v positive.
85 is also 12v positive.
30 is the power wire of what you want to control. (ground this elsewhere)
