2013 Taurus ex-PI Console Final Touches
Hello,
I installed a civilian console into my 2013 Ford Taurus V6 Ecoboost, and I just have two holes remaining in the console in which I am wondering if you guys have any advice on.
You can see the console is installed all good and well, but the floor shifter has a hole and right before the radio has a hole.
What would be the most effective ways to cover these up? I don't NEED any 12v connections or anything in either of them, but if it is just as easy to get something with those too, that would be great.
Thank you guys!

Ford sells parts specifically for the PI sedan for those two bays, pretty spendy though.
DG1Z5404608JA is the part number for the space below the radio

Re: 2013 Taurus ex-PI Console Final Touches
wow! $125-ish.
thanks for the part # - installing my console as well and I have the same hole left over as well - so that part number comes in handy : )
as alternative - also looking to relocate the cabin air temp sensor - i've seen photos of a part that goes just by the gear shirt lever where you can re-mount the sensor in, but I can't seem to locate that part.
perhaps the hive mind can help out?
thanks in advance.

Would also be interested in finding that part too.Jake_Blues wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2019 6:58 amwow! $125-ish.

Do you know if that part is about 1in by 8in? Just not 100% confident that that part will fit into the spot I need it. If you don't get that part, is your spot for it about that same size or no?
Thanks

Theirs a part that Havis includes for its integrated system to relocate it, I haven't been able to find it on their website. You might be able to go to a Havis dealer and get it, the one near me sells their parts to civilians.
You can also just tuck it behind the console with little effect to no on the climate controls, according to a user who upgraded to auto climate.

Re: 2013 Taurus ex-PI Console Final Touches
Since I am too cheap to pay the $120 + for DG1Z5404608JA right now, I mocked up a temp filler for my console install.
It's made out of black foamcore and black cloth tape - my plan is to take it to a 3D designer to have it scanned and cleaned up (straight edges, better fitment, etc) and then 3D printed out of plastic.
It includes a section to hold the air temp sensor and the cig lighter outlet. I bought a spare cig lighter plug off of eBay and a cover (which didn't arrive at the time I took the pic), but the outlet in my part is functional. I routed the other cig lighter power harness to the change holder / ashtray in the console
If anyone likes it I may either sell the file or the printed part. It def won't be $120+

Re: 2013 Taurus ex-PI Console Final Touches
I am also designing a custom 3D part designed to fit over and in the space left by the gearshift if anyone is interested. i'll post a pic of the part after i get it printed.
the design i am refining will cover the hole and allow you to lay your phone on it and charge it (if you add your own q-charger) and also have a magnetic latch (you'll have to hide your magnetic key somewhere tho) so you can stow your goodies in the molded compartment underneath.
wouldn't want anything to get loose inside that console ; )

Hello. I have been looking for a civi console but having trouble with fitment. Yours looks great. What year Taurus is that console from? That would help.

I believe mine is from a 2014 Taurus and installed into a 2013 Taurus ex PI. Hope that helps, not sure on the exact model of the 2014 it came from but everything did fit just right.cooldude.country wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 7:29 amHello. I'd be very interested in buying both parts 3D printed and finalized, keep us posted on how it all goes and let me know when we can work on a deal to get me those parts too, beautiful work, you're much more creative than I am!Jake_Blues wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 8:45 pmI am also designing a custom 3D part designed to fit over and in the space left by the gearshift if anyone is interested. i'll post a pic of the part after i get it printed.

Re: 2013 Taurus ex-PI Console Final Touches
Anyone know if it's possible to remove the push to start button and use it with a turnkey ignition, the console I order was from an SHO.
I've tried to buy about 5 consoles only to be refunded each time after the seller found out they were missing all of their pieces and it was the only type I could get. The bezel for the turnkey is as much as the console
I would also be interested in purchasing a filler panel piece like the OEM ford part, with some actual utility.

the console i installed was from an SHO.
the push button ignition switch is held in place on the rear of the trim strip by 4 Torx screws.
once you remove the push button switch, you will need to remove the black plastic "hot-wire" prevention ring from the keyed ignition switch.

That's very unnecessary, if you want to help just click the yellow Amazon link near the top right of the page before buying from Amazon, that gives us a small commission on the stuff you buy at no cost to you.Jake_Blues wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 11:51 pmto help out with maintaining this site, i plan on donating a portion of each sale back to the webmaster.

Re: 2013 Taurus ex-PI Console Final Touches
meeting with a company next week.
as it turns out this isn't just a "scan the part", clean up the file and print project.
scanning i am told is usually reserved for scanning natural objects like faces, etc.
for mechanical type parts they usually build a CAD file from scratch, taking measurements along the way and the resulting printed part usually takes several whacks to get the fitment correct.
so - i think I'll start with the small spacer + power outlet + air temp sensor (since I have the mockup) followed by the gearshift compartment + cover and lastly, the large cig tray + power outlet.

Buy a screen, it will be a little longer than police radio and fit perfectly, needing no modifications.
