spray painting chipped wheels?

Post by mymangochutney » Sat Apr 06, 2019 6:53 pm

Any tips on spray painting my wheels?

I sanded off some of the rust since we have lots of salt here, on p71's any flat paint would match but now it's a bit more difficult. Does someone have an off the shelf suggestion?

Really depends on which look you’re going for. On my precious CVPI, just sanded it a bit, used a scuff pad on hard to reach areas, then used a black primer, then finished it off with flat black since it was its original look. Held up for 2 years. No issues.

The fpis wheels are super shiny, so the paint I used on my P71 will look really flat and out of place

Yes they are, they changed it from flat black to shiny black. If you would like it to shine like how the FPIS & FPIU does, I suggest finishing it with 2K clear coat gloss (same as they use for vehicle body clear coat; they come in spray can form too), right after you finish painting with black. The 2K gloss clear coat will give you that shiny finish.
