Re: 2014 Ford Taurus Order Guide
Thanks. I really want to see the new D7 Sunset Metallic paint on the Taurus. I see the color is also going to be on the Flex, I think it will look great. I was just curious as to what else is new for 2014.

Re: 2014 Ford Taurus Order Guide
No order guide but here is a link that gives some info. Looks to me like they added two colors, dark side metallic and sunset metallic. New option package, driver assist that includes lane keeping and that's about it. They built me 2013 last week, glad I got the order in as my color ginger ale is gone for 2014.

For all the 2014 Taurus info, go to, http://www.profleetsales.com/pdf_files/ ... 14_ALL.pdf
The pdf doesn't list the Taurus, but just scroll down a ways and you'll find all the new info. Such as push button start, and heated and cooled front row seats are now standard on the limited.

Re: 2014 Ford Taurus Order Guide
The new colors look terrific, especially Dark Side. Ford has needed a refined color in the Dark Blue/Gray family since dropping Dark Ink Blue Metallic back in '09.
But I don't know whether to be relieved or irked by '14. I bought a '13 last September - a month before Fusion began eating up the entire market above and below and Ford began giving away GM-like money on Taurus. For a second, I though Taurus might've been a Silverado. Glad to see Ginger Ale gone though - that's a favor done for the entire world.
Still HUGELY disappointed for Ford to continue making the "Driver Assist Package" (or any package with Adaptive Cruise) mutually exclusive to the SHO Performance Package. Good God. Does Ford think anybody who's willing to pay nearly $48,000 for a Taurus WOULDN'T be willing to spend the extra $1,500 for a fully-equipped car with one of the most convenient features?
Now they've done it a further disservice by including Active Park Assist with the Driver Assist Package only, making it unavailable to the SHO Performance Package - one of the most useful features on such a large vehicle. Hopefully incentives don't fire up, and residuals plummet immediately. Still smarting over the car depreciating nearly 25% before driving its first mile.
Hopefully '14 units will include head units with more oomph - enough to run decent versions of MyFordTouch which I still can't stand despite being one of the most pro-technology motorists anywhere. Ford moved away from a best-in-class infotainment system to a real convoluted mess until it figures how to strike the appropriate balance between complexity and utility. It's almost enough to negate the many handling and braking improvements made with the '13 Refresh.

Re: 2014 Ford Taurus Order Guide
Ford has almost never gotten packaging right. Marketing folks need a swift kick in the shoulders sometimes.
I've griped similarly about the SEL. Ford could have extracted a lot more money out of me if they were smart about it...

Re: 2014 Ford Taurus Order Guide
Agreed.
It's not just Taurus - Mustang, Explorer Sport and Flex are no better.
Ford has remarkably elevated its entire brand value to the price strata Mercury once occupied. Margins and earnings are terrific, but this kind of hubris by not indulging those who are most eager to hand over their money is a huge opportunity wasted.

Re: 2014 Ford Taurus Order Guide
I wish they would get rid of Dark Toreador Red for the Police Interceptors and instead replace it with the brighter Toreador Red or just offer Ruby Red as in the retail Taurus and Explorer. I know a few FD's who ordered DTR and wish they had a "real red." GM and Dodge sure offer a real red for their PPV's/SSV's.

Re: 2014 Ford Taurus Order Guide
Race Red (PQ) is one of the best reds out there and Ford uses it across a wide range of models. Unfortunately, Mustang is as big as it goes and neither Fusion nor Taurus are included. Furthermore, Transit Connect will have Race Red, but not the full-sized Transit which will be using Vermillion Red instead.GhostRider wrote:I wish they would get rid of Dark Toreador Red for the Police Interceptors and instead replace it with the brighter Toreador Red or just offer Ruby Red as in the retail Taurus and Explorer. The changes in Whites is bad enough (Oxford, Performance and Suede) for people who prefer to have color-matched vehicles even across model years. There's certainly room for improvement beyond the basics, but why can't Ford settle upon a uniform palette of basic colors and stick to it?

Re: 2014 Ford Taurus Order Guide
I agree! Unfortunately not offered for Taurus. And Ruby Red is $395 extra.Remford wrote:Race Red (PQ) is one of the best reds out there
Exactly!! I dont see a need to offer special fleet colors (unless you order "x" amount of the same vehicle as is the current policy). Such a waste!!Remford wrote:why can't Ford settle upon a uniform palette of basic colors and stick to it?
Columbus (OH) FD ordered 15 Police Interceptor Utility's for their Battalion and EMS Chiefs. They are all Dark Toreador Red. They could have ordered them in a special color due to the quantity, but thats extra cost.

Now this is the color I wish I could get on a Police Interceptor Sedan, or retail Taurus

The window sticker says the red is a special order red paint (Fire Engine Red, Paint Code W4650), which cost $906.00.

Re: 2014 Ford Taurus Order Guide
It's a shame Ford won't match your sister-in-law's drapes for the right price. Just like custom VIN selection, it's an untapped gold mine Ford's antiquated IT infrastructure can't cope with.
Sadly, I just saw BOTH the new Sunset and Dark Side Metallic colors - and was DEEPLY disappointed on all counts.
What pisses me off most NOW is that I've just personally bought enough new cars in the past year for my own FIN. One hell of a time AFTER both my '14 GT500's were built.
I have the Taurus in Ruby Red - and had it in Red Candy before it. I prefer Ruby - but would've loved a Race Red SHO most of all.

Re: 2014 Ford Taurus Order Guide
Check that - most of all, I'd kill to have back the prior infotainment system and to be rid of MyFordTouch. It's not as bad as Consumer Reports makes out, but it's a long long way from being any good either.

The Interceptor Utility, like the Sedan and its Taurus cousin, is based off the Explorer. Both the Sedan and Utility are designed from the ground up for police use.
It used to be, with the CVPI, that if you ordered the "Street Appearance Package (SAP)" you would get the Crown Victoria badge. With the Interceptors, you dont get a Taurus or Explorer badge, its either the Police Interceptor badge or nothing. Ford seems to be doing things different this time.

Basically, yes, but they are upgraded Explorers without the name.BullBill wrote:Fire engine red.![]()

Ford is deliberately not using the Taurus or Explorer names with the Police versions of the vehicles, although they're based off the same vehicle and look the same (almost).
