Expected MPG? 2014 PI Sedan

Post by Despized » Fri Aug 25, 2017 3:50 pm

Hello everyone,

I have a 2014 PI Sedan 97k miles on it AWD 3.7 engine.
Currently I am seeing 13-14mpg town and 22-23mpg highway (70-74mph for 230 miles)

I didn't see a thread or a post on this from a few quick searches. I also didn't want to highjack any other threads.

I am curious to what others have experienced for milage with fwd/awd and different motors. I am trying to figure out if the gas milage is an actual issue or if that is normal for my drive type.

Previous vehicles
2005 crown vic PI. 18 city 29 highway on same trips.
2015 fusion se 2.5lt fwd. 21 city 36 highway on same trips.

Thank you for your time.

I'm getting 18.9 MPG on my 2015 PI with 3.5 ecoboost 10K miles. Probably due to "City Driving" and my lead foot.

I have the 2013 3.5 na awd, i have put 30000 miles on the car and the mpg is consistent, all city is a average of 15-17 mpg, and highway is 22-23 mpg. It now has a 120,000 miles and have not seen any decrease in mpg.

I have a 2014 all-wheel drive . With the 3.7. Just turned 50 thousand miles. I consistently get 18 - 19 miles to the gallon in the city/ country . 23 - 25 on the freeway 60 to 70 miles per hour. Barring my lead foot.

I've a 2016 Limited 3.5L FlexFuel w/10k miles (recently purchased). I run 93 octane, recent oil change. I ran the OBD2 check and no codes, all looks normal. The on dash computer reads 20.7 (combined). I expect an increase once I can turn the A/C off in a few weeks (it is August in Florida now). I think Ford shows 18/27 for mine. I would suspect that your AWD makes an impact. Does Ford have the PI AWD cut out at higher speeds making the highway MPG better?

Well that really sucks for me then. This last tank will be around 12.5mpg but a lot of idle time playing pokemon go. All of my numbers are with 87 octane. As far as I know the AWD is 24/7. Based on the Intelligent AWD indicators. Though wow those Ecoboost numbers I wish I had :D

Really thank you all for the info on this. I now don't feel as the car has a major issue since the milages are pretty close.

2013 AWD 3.5L flex-fuel, 65k miles, owned 6 months, 20k miles.

I drive 800-900 miles a week, almost exclusively highway at 75-80 mph and I'm not scared to stand on it when I feel like bending it on an on-ramp or something like that. I'm a polar bear and my A/C is pretty much on all the time. I also carry about 100 lbs. of tools/emergency items in the trunk and I have a Secure Idle module, which I use when I'm out and about the keep it cool inside when I'm hopping out for a few mins here and there.

I get a consistent 22 mpg. Compared to rated numbers 17/24, it's actually better than I expected to get. With your 3.7/AWD rated slightly higher at 18/25, I'd expect substantially similar numbers to anyone driving a 3.5/AWD.

I have a 2015 AWD 3.7. I'm only showing 13-15 in mixed driving, turnpike and city. I thought a selling point of the new Interceptor was that it achieved 20% better fuel economy than the CVPI. Right now it's basically the same, and the CVPI was a 4.6 V8.
