2013 Taurus - Looking for power seat motor part number.

Post by billross » Sat Sep 02, 2017 12:57 pm

I see three motors under my six-way power driver's seat. One moves the seat back and forth, another raises the front of the seat-bottom up and down, the third raises the back of the seat-bottom up and down. My motor to raise/lower the back the back of the seat-bottom has stopped working. The switch is fine, the motor is bad. I've looked all over the web for a part number but can't find one. The motor to move the seat back and forth is easy to find, but the other two are not. Does anyone know the part number?

Yes it is. I'd love to track down a new electric motor for the seat, but I can't find the part number I need.

Thanks for the reply, but that's not the motor I need. That motor appears to be the seat-back recline motor. I'm still looking for the seat-bottom up/down motor. I suspect they don't sell the up/down motors separately. I suspect I have to buy an entire new seat-bottom assembly...

Have you tried asking the dealers parts dept?

Rockauto.com says that part is the horizontal control (moves entire seat back and forth).

I'll stop by the dealer next time I'm close and find out for sure. After researching this some more, I'm almost positive the only way to get the motor I need is to buy a new seat bottom frame.

You might consider repairing the bad motor with parts from one of the others if they are the same form factor. I would expect that the assembly price is extortionate.

I would just call them. It really should not require a trip if you live far. I would have checked with them first, even before making this thread. Ford is the source of the parts.

Forget RockAuto. Their slogan, "all the parts your car will ever need" is misleading. They dont have plenty of parts my cars have needed. They sold me a defective lower intake (Dorman) for my F150 and had to pay to do the job twice. Pissed me off. Dorman did not even cover half of the costs for my trouble.

Do not trust Dorman for any critical parts. A door lock actuator or trim piece, sure. A critical engine component, absolutely not. They are cheap Chinese parts for a reason. Many people have learned that lesson the hard way... ;)

FWIW I swapped out the 6 way cloth on my '11 Flex for a 10 way leather. Playing around with the seat hooked up to my battery charger I discovered the 3 motors do the following.
!, moves forward & backwards
2, moves the whole seat up & down
3, tilts the seat back up & down. If the seat is raised up all the way or lowered down all the way it won't move in that direction. I don't know if it's the same on the Taurus seat.
