94 Runs with ignition off

Post by gurn4you » Sun Sep 10, 2017 8:18 pm

Hi all.
I've got a 94 3.8L with 250k+ miles. Runs like a champ. The problem is with the ignition. My son was using it at college and when it came back the key spun 180 degrees and to turn it on or off you would have to open the hood and either pull the ignition/starter fuses (the two big blue ones at the end of the fuse box toward the midline of the engine compartment) or push them in, depending if you were starting or stopping the engine. I've replaced the lock cylinder and the ignition switch but still have the same problem. Even with the keys out and the engine turned off the idiot lights come on when all the fuses are pushed in, and it doesn't turn off when the key is turned off and removed. You have to pull those fuses. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!!
