Gear shift pressure switch???

Post by brandongayton » Wed Oct 25, 2017 10:25 pm

So the other day my battery died and it was stuck between 2 parked cars. I ended up falling some YouTube videos and getting my gear shifter Manually moved to neutral. In doing so there was a small metal pen that moved and fell out. In return that metal pen Is very important. It tells my vehicle that it is in park. So my problem is I do not know how to put it back in and which way it went it was not bolted or screwed in it had this milky white sticky substance that looked to be holding it in . And now my car does not register that is in park and it kills my battery any help is good help. Took it to the fore dealership and they're trying to charge me 500 bucks for a complete new gear shifter.

Welcome, the "milky white sticky substance" is the lithium grease used to lubricate the shifter parts, not hold anything in place. Do you have a photo of the "pen"?
