Squeaking blower motor in 2005 Taurus

Post by mdmford93 » Mon Nov 13, 2017 7:34 am

I have a really bad squeaking blower motor on my 2005 Taurus Se. Was curious if it just needs to be lubed up or if it's going bad. My blower motor resistor is bad which I have the new one to put in, just haven't done it yet. All help is appreciated, TIA.

If the motor bearings are going bad lubrication will just be a temporary fix.

How do you know that the bearings are bad? Can you take it apart without breaking it?

Can I replace just the motor without replacing the wheel?

It's probably got bronze bushings. If there is any play in the shaft they are worn. I don't think the motor is made to be serviced. As for just replacing the motor, I don't know. You would have to see if the wheel is pressed on or whether it is removable.

Okay. It shows with and without options online at Oreilly and Auto Zone so I was just curious

It might be something as simple as something rubbing on the wheel.

Could be. Will get in there and take it out and look at it good when I get time after work
