Bad rear wheel bearing or something else?

Post by mymangochutney » Sun Jun 24, 2018 2:13 pm

Car has ONLY 60k miles but there's a very loud nose like a plane engine coming from the rear end. It happens above 15Mph but I don't notice any crazy vibration at highway speeds, it just gets loader.

this is at 40Mph but I start to brake around 20 seconds in.

didn't approve the repair yet, I'm in the rustbelt so I'm not sure if I should try to do it myself?

Also the puller will cost like $150 alone

Just replaced the right rear wheel bearing on my 13 Taurus PI. Bill was over 450.00 The mechanic really had to work to get the old bearing out. put in a new Timken bearing. also live in the rust belt

Those rear wheel bearing are a bitch, steel bearing in an aluminum housing not a good design!
